Head, Macquarie Europe
Andrew Hunter is the Head of Macquarie Group’s European business and Head of Macquarie Capital in Europe. In this role Andrew oversees more than 1,000 people working within Macquarie’s European operations in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Geneva, Vienna, Amsterdam, Manchester, Dublin, Rome and Milan.
Andrew has almost 20 years’ advisory and asset management experience in Australia, Asia and Europe. Andrew was previously Head of Macquarie Capital Advisers in Europe, responsible for Macquarie’s European advisory and fund management operations where more than 450 executives advise on transactions and manage assets in sectors including airports, roads, rail, utilities, telecommunications, industrials, property, PFI/PPP, media, entertainment and technology. Under his leadership, the European team carried out landmark transactions including significant investment in of Thames Water, the UK’s largest water company, Brussels Airport and Autoroutes Paris-Rhine-Rhône.
Andrew joined Macquarie in August 1999 as part of the acquisition of the investment bank of Bankers Trust Australia where he worked for almost 10 years in roles in credit analysis, finance and securitisation in Australia and Hong Kong.
Members of Macquarie Group manage more than €34 billion in equity invested in infrastructure and essential service assets around the world through a range of listed and unlisted vehicles. Infrastructure investments managed by Macquarie include assets in the energy, water, telecommunications and transportation sectors in Germany, the UK, Portugal, France, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, US, Australia, Korea, Japan and South Africa. Macquarie aims to manage investments in infrastructure assets profitably and responsibly.
