Anabel GONZALEZ
Director of the Agriculture and Commodities Division World Trade Organization
Before joining the WTO, she worked as a consultant on trade and investment issues advising international organizations and governments. She has extensive experience in the formulation and advocacy of trade policy, negotiation and implementation of international trade and investment agreements, design and building of institutional capacity, establishment of information and communication mechanisms with civil society, and formulation and evaluation of trade capacity building projects. She previously served as Costa Rican Special Ambassador for U.S. Trade Affairs and Chief Negotiator of the Free Trade Agreement between Central America and the United States; Director General for Costa Rica's Investment Promotion Agency; Viceminister of Foreign Trade; and Director General for Trade and Investment Negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica. Ms. Gonzalez has written and lectured extensively in more than 20 countries on trade and investment matters. She also served in the Board of Directors of Costa Rica's Investment Promotion Agency, is a member of Academia de Centroamerica and is a research associate at Florida International University. She has a law degree from the University of Costa Rica and a master degree from Georgetown University Law Center
