Degree in political science specializing in "Economic Planning" at the State University in Milan, 1980.
Advanced training in organization, finance and relations.
Two-year course in statistics at Catholic University, Milan, 1974-75.
Technical high school degree as industrial expert at P. Hensemberger Institute, Monza, 1973.

Professional activities

· Managing Director for "Retirement and Pension Funds," IntesaBCI Banking Group, 1998-2001.
· Until 1998, "chief of institutional relations" for Fondigest S.p.A., the asset management arm of the Cariplo Banking Group; at the same time, manager for "private retirement sector" for Cariplo S.p.A.
· Previously, worked with IMI Fideuram Group, 1987-January 1991; Assistant General Manager of Hunter Douglas Italia, a multinational engineering and constructon components corporation, 1984-1987; positions with three other industrial firms as plant manager (MaluganiS.p.A.) and production services manager (C.G.R. Thomson Group; Generay).

Expertise in

· work organization and corporate finance;
· labour and social security policy;
· pension funds;
· financial services (mutual funds, UCITS, SICAVs, closed-end securities and real estate funds; stock exchange and local markets, SMEs, share investment incentives).

As an expert, he was a member of the Castellino Committee, instituted by interministerial decree in 1994 to study proposals for Italian social security reform.
Working under the Prime Minister's Office, he took part in drafting the pension portion of the Finance Law for 1995.
As an expert on public and private retirement schemes, he was named by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security to help draft the pension reform (Law 335/1995).

He has also held the following positions

· Member of Board of Directors of D.I.E.P. (a consortium company for the disposal of the real estate holdings of the Social Security administrations), 1994;
· Member of Board of Directors of I.G.E.I. S.p.A. (a company for the management of the Social Security Administration's real estate assets), 1995;
· Delegated President of the national retirement fund for employees of ENEL and private electricity companies, 1995.
