Mr. Heinrich TIEMANN
State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Security

Heinrich Tiemann was born on 15th June 1951. He is married.

until 1973:   Training as a civil servant of the higher intermediate non-technical 
                  administrative service

1973-1979:  Studies of economics, political science and law at the University
                  of Constance, degree in administrative science

1989-1985:  Academic assistance at the IG Metall (German Metalworkers' Trade Union)
                  training centre in Lohr a.M.

1985-1991:  Social scientist in the Basic Issues Department of the
                  IG Metall' executive board

1991-1997: Head of the political department of the Social Democratic Party's (SPD) 
                 executive comittee

1997-1998: Head of the planning group of the SPD's parlamentary group
                 in the German Bundestag

1998:         Head of the Directorate-General of the internal management at
                 the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs

1998-2002: Head of the Directorate-General for Social Affairs, Education, Research,
                 Enviroment, Transport, Consumer Protection and Agriculture at the
                 Federal Chancellery

Since November 2002: State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Security.
