Born in Uruguay, in 1965. Licentiate in Sociology, Facultad de Ciencias Sociales, Universidad  de  la República, Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1991. Postgraduate Diploma in Population and Development, Latin American and Caribbean Demographic Centre-UNO, Santiago, Chile in 1995. Researcher and Professor on the Population Programme, Unidad Multidisciplinaria, Facultad de Ciencias Sociales, Universidad de la República.  He has been working in Social Watch since 1997 as Statistics Officer in charge of the construction of indicators and statistics database. Recently  was appointed Coordinator of Social Watch Social Sciences Research Team. Social Watch is a global network of NGOs involved in the follow-up of the commitments made by countries at the world summits of Copenhagen, Beijing and at the Millennium Summit.
