P. Lelio Iapadre, born in 1953, is Associate Professor of Economics at the University of L’Aquila, and Professorial Lecturer of International Economics at the Johns Hopkins University, SAIS Bologna Center, Italy. He is also Associate Research Fellow at the United Nations University – Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS), Bruges, Belgium. On behalf of the Research Centre of International Economics (CIDEI) of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, he serves as team leader in the GARNET Network of Excellence “Global Governance, Regionalisation and Regulation: the Role of the EU”, EC Sixth Framework Programme. He served as chief economist in the National Institute of Foreign Trade (ICE) and as an adviser to the Italian Minister of Foreign Trade. He has also worked on behalf of the National Institute of Statistics (Istat), Eurostat, and other national and international institutions.
