Ömer Demír

Ömer Demír
President, Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT)

Ömer Demír was born in 1963. He was graduated from Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration in 1988. He completed M.S in 1990 at the same Department. He has completed Ph. in 1993, and he became an associate professor in 1996. He worked as research assistant at the Anadolu University between 1991-1994, and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Kırıkkale between 1994-2003. He worked as a Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences between 1994-1998, and between 2000-2002, he was the Head of Department of Economics, at the same university. He took place at the editorial board of various national and international journals. And, many of his articles have published. Associate Professor Ömer Demír, who can speak English, is married and has got three children.
