Director, CORI Justice Commission, Ireland

Dr Sean Healy is Director of the CORI Justice Commission.   For more than 20 years he has been active on issues of socio-economic policy in Ireland. Before he worked for more than 10 years in Africa.
 
Sean is a member of the National Economic and Social Council (NESC) and of the National Economic and Social Forum (NESF).   He has worked on many government task forces dealing with a wide range of social and economic policy issues. He played a key role in gaining social partnership status for the Community and Voluntary Sector in Ireland in 1996. 
 
CORI Justice Commission is now a recognised social partner and was one of the organisations that negotiated and signed the last three national agreements.  Partnership 2000, the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness and Sustaining Progress.
 
 
CORI Justice Commission runs a range of programmes focusing on

•        enabling and empowering people, groups and organisations 
•        spirituality 
•        advocacy and communication.
 
 
Together with his Co-Director Brigid Reynolds, Sean Healy has written or edited 17 books on public policy and their work has been published in a wide range of other books and journals.  Their most recent book was Ireland and the Future of Europe and was published in October 2003.   Their book Social Policy in Ireland has become a standard textbook on social policy in this country.  One of their previous books addressed the issue of identifying progress indicators for Ireland.
