Charlie Hardy is head of the Planning and Evaluation Unit in the Irish Department of Health and Children. He has worked in the Department for over twenty years in the ICT Human Resources and Planning areas. He has been the representative of the Irish Ministry dealing with health matters in relation to the OECD Directorate for Employment Labour and Social Affairs and chief data correspondent for the OECD health database for the past six years. He has also taken part in various projects under the EU public health programme and with EUROSTAT using the OECD System of Health Accounts as well as on projects in respect of health technology assessment. The main focus of his work in the
Department has been on the development of service planning and performance indicators within the Irish health system.  Mr. Hardy is a member of the Health Research Board in Ireland is responsible for the development of policy on health technology assessment and I was part of the team in the Department which developed Ireland's National Health Information Strategy published this year.
