Deputy Minister for Economy and Finance
Deputy Minister for Economy and Finance Born in Palermo, on 1st April 1954. Member of Italian Parliament in the 12 th, 13 th and 14 th legislature, nowadays he is Deputy Minister for Economy and Finance, with proxy for the Economic Development of Southern Italy, for the activities of semi-public companies which operate to support the economic development of Southern Italy and for the relationship with the European Union and the Regions for pertaining matters. Curriculum vitae Managing director, for eleven years, at IRFIS- Istituto Regionale per il Finanziamento delle Industrie in Sicilia (Regional Institute for the Financing of Industries in Sicily). Manager of Publitalia '80 since 1984. Director of the Palermo office and later of the Brescia office. In 1993 he is promoter of the birth of Forza Italia in Sicily. In 1994 he is appointed Regional Coordinator by Silvio Berlusconi, appointment which he still retains. Under-Secretary of State for the Ministry of Public Transport and Navigation in 1994. In 1995 he is member of the 9 th Standing Committee- Transport, Postal and Telecommunication Services of the Chamber of Deputies. In 1996 he is member of the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry on the mafia phenomenon and on similar criminal associations. In 1998 he is member of the 5 th Standing Committee- Budget of the Chamber of Deputies. In 2001 he is member of the 14 th Standing Committee – European Union Policies of the Chamber of Deputies. In 2001 he is Deputy Minister for Economy and Finance. Since 2001 he has been lecturer by contract on “Policies for the development and planning of public works in underprivileged areas” as part of the research Doctorate on Transports at the Reggio Calabria University. As an expert in transports, economy and environment, thanks to the institutional experience matured, he has co-operated with the Universities of Palermo and Reggio Calabria in research programmes of the Ministry of University and Scientific and Technological research (MURST).
