Professor of Economics at the Berlin University of Technology

Gert G. Wagner is Full Professor of Economics at the Berlin University of Technology (TUB) and Research Director at the DIW Berlin where he directs the German Socio-Economic Panel Study (SOEP). He is member of German Science Council (Wissenschaftsrat) and he serves on the Advisory Board to Statistics Germany ("Statistischer Beirat"). He was an elected reviewer of German National Science Foundation (DFG), member of the user selection panel of the European Large Scale Facility "European Centre for Analysis in the Social Sciences (ECASS)", University of Essex and a member of the Working Group on Research Infrastructures within Social Sciences and Humanities" (RISSH) of the "European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures" (ESFRI).

He serves on the German Council of Experts for Immigration and Integration, on the Advisory Board to the Federal Ministry of Consumer Protection. He served as an expert 2002-03 on the Federal Commission for the "Sustainability of Financing the Welfare State" and 1995-98 on the Study Commission Demographic Change" of the German Parliament (Enquete Kommission "Demographischer Wandel" des Deutschen Bundestags)  

From 1997-2002 he was Full Professor of Economics at Viadrina European University of Frankfurt (Oder) and 1992-97 he was Full Professor of Public Administration at Ruhr-University Bochum. Wagner was visiting professor at Cornell University, Syracuse University and American University, Washington, D.C., and a visiting scholar at numerous research institutes in Germany and the US. He is research fellow of IZA and a Research Associate of CEPR. He is Senior Research Fellow of the Centre d`Etudes de Population de Pauvreté et de Politiques Socio-Economiques (CEPS/INSTEAD), Luxembourg.
