Diego Cammarata

Diego Cammarata was born in Palermo, in the Zisa quarter. He is fifty-three years of age and has two children, Piero and Serena. He graduated with honours in law and is a high court lawyer. He won an American and International Law scholarship and attended the University of Dallas (USA). He also obtained a post-graduate diploma at the University of Stirling School of Management (Scotland). He is a lecturer in Information and Communication Law and Image Promotion Theory and Techniques at the University of Palermo. He was previously in charge of the Palermo Council Houses Agency and has been a provincial co-ordinator for the Forza Italia party. He was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies in May 2001, and he is a member of the Transport Commission and of the Italian delegation to NATO. Elected Mayor of Palermo on 25^th November 2001, he was proclaimed four days later and took office on 5^th December 2001.
