Omar Hijazi
CEO, Tejari
Since joining Tejari in 2005, Omar Hijazi has managed to take the company to the next level in terms of strategy and delivery. Presenting a wide-ranging strategic plan that the company is rapidly implementing into deliverables has put Tejari at the forefront of the e-commerce industry in the region. With more than 12 new ventures being presented as part of his vision for communities’ portals and forward-auction transactional portals, he has helped make Tejari one of the most recognised brands in the industry. Omar Hijazi brings to Tejari the expertise gained during a highly successful career primarily in the high-tech community of Silicon Valley. During his 20 years of experience, Mr. Hijazi has led a strategic sourcing program worth more than $1 billion; brought more than $100 million in savings to the holding company, one of the world’s largest CPG firms; launched an e-marketplace whose current membership consists of global industry leaders with combined revenue of over $900 billion; and developed a go-to-market strategy which captured a market worth $1.3 billion. Having begun his career as a computer scientist and then earning his M.B.A in Finance, Mr. Hijazi has risen to hold key positions with several leading companies, and gained a crucial grounding in e-business and logistics. As senior manager at Ernst and Young LLP in Los Angeles, Mr. Hijazi helped lead the business intelligence and performance management practice for the firm. Formerly, Mr. Hijazi held the position of senior principal at A.T. Kearney, Inc., a global management consultancy, providing thought leadership to the high-tech practice and e commerce groups. While at A.T. Kearney, Mr. Hijazi consulted with Tejari on launching new services and building a five-year business plan.
