Commissioner, Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC)
William G. Knight is the first Commissioner of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC). He was appointed on November 1, 2001 to a five-year term. Mr. Knight is an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation and a member of the Board’s Governance Committee. He is also a member of the Financial Institutions Supervisory Committee and of the Senior Advisory Committee. From 1995 to 2001, Mr. Knight was President and CEO of Credit Union Central of Canada. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Credential Group and as Chair of the Credit Union Institute of Canada. Mr. Knight has also served as Chair of Canadian Central’s CEOs Committee and the World Council of Credit Unions’ CEO Advisory Committee.
