Jim Miller was appointed Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services at the Department of Agriculture (USDA) in March 2009. His responsibilities include supporting and implementing beneficial policies for rural farmlands around the United States.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Miller worked extensively with the National Farmers Union, National Association of Wheat Growers and the Canada-U.S. Joint Commission on Grains. He is also a former member of the Senate Budget Committee.

Mr Miller comes from a farming background, having operated the family farm in eastern Washington for two decades.
