Vladimír Chovan became Minister of Agriculture in September 2009.
A graduate of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, Mr Chovan worked as a researcher at the Enterprise for Agricultural and Food Management Rationalisation in Trnava from 1989 to 1994. He then headed collective and state farms between 1990 and 1996.
From 1996 to 2009 Mr Chovan was the Director-General of Agropartner Ltd. He is also a former Chairman of the Slovak Chamber of Agriculture and Food.
