Professor António Manuel Soares Serrano

António Manuel Soares Serrano was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries in October 2009.

He is also a professor in the Department of Business Administration at the University of Évora, having specialised in agriculture for his degree in Business Administration. Prior to his appointment as Minister, Professor Serrano was Director of the Office for Planning of Agro-food Policy in the ministry in 2005. 

Professor Serrano is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hospital Espírito Santo, EPE and Non-executive Board Member of the Executive Committee of the Operational Programme of Alentejo, Inalentejo, NSRF, as Government representative.
