Byung-Rin Yoo was appointed Deputy Minister for Trade Policy at the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in December 2008.

Having graduated in Agricultural Economics from Korea University and Kent State University in Ohio, he began his public service career in 1981 at what was then the Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. His career in the ministry includes positions as Director-General in the offices of Statistics and Investment Evaluation, Public Relations and Rural Development.

A former Director-General of the Presidential Commission on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, he served as Counsellor for World Trade Organization (WTO) Affairs at the Korean Mission in Geneva from June 2001 to February 2005.
