Mr. Antonio Pires Santos

 

Antonio Santos leads the IBM’s Energy & Utilities team activities around Business Solutions in Europe, which includes electricity, gas, water and waste management industries.

 

     

In this role he coordinates the different IBM’s brands activities around Sales and Solutions Business Development, Policy and Marketing, executed by more than 300 dedicated people across Europe, with a special emphasis in giving business directions to a specialized group of 30 high skilled professionals that are dedicated to business development activities.

As part of that role he is also a member of IBM’s Corporate Intelligent Utility Network initiative, the IBM’s portfolio of solutions for the Smart Grid as well as the IBM’s Corporate Smarticities initiative. He is a member of IBM Portugal’s Integration & Values team, which includes the top leaders in the company. He joined IBM in 1982 from a Government Body in Portugal and has since assumed roles of increasing responsibility, starting with IT technical roles and later in Sales, Services and actually in Industry Solutions.

In addition to his IBM responsibilities, Antonio is representing IBM near the European Commission for matters related with Energy as well as in other Industry organizations like, EURELECTRIC, ESMIG and DigitalEurope. He is also a frequent speaker at industry events across Europe.

 

Antonio, a Portuguese citizen, has studied Electronic Engineering and has a Master in Business Management and Marketing, from Development Systems, in Lisbon. He is married, has two children and currently lives with his family in Lisbon, Portugal.
