Who we are

netFWD, the OECD Global Network of Foundations Working for Development, is a global network of self-selected foundations committed to optimising the impact of philanthropy for development.

The OECD Development Centre officially launched netFWD in October 2012, recognising the increasingly important role of foundations in the development arena, the innovative practices emerging from the philanthropic sector, as well as the demand for a platform for co-operation and exchange.

netFWD takes full advantage of being part of and hosted by an international organisation such as the OECD, which allows it to convey and disseminate foundations’ key messages to policy makers and provides the Network with access to the vast internal knowledge base of the OECD. netFWD is also a way to put foundations on the OECD’s development agenda.

Since its inception, the Network has come a long way thanks to the commitment and dedication of each of its members and associates. We are excited to see how this journey will continue and are convinced that the role of philanthropy for development will continue to grow in importance.
