Thoresby Primary School

Title
Enterprise Education at Thoresby
Rationale and general information

We are a vibrant learning community with children at the heart of all we do. Our aim is simple; to empower every child to shine. The learning environment is set within our wonderful old building, which was opened in 1902. During 2013, we co-founded Hull Collaborative Academy Trust along with 3 other local primary schools.

Activities

Enterpreneurial education is used as a key vehicle for learning.

  • Development of enterprising attitudes and skills through teaching and learning across the whole curriculum using the ‘Big 13’ and ‘Enterprise 6’ skills.
  • Development of a wide range of minibusinesses from jewellery making to
  • running a film night and making Christmas cards.
  • Setting up of an Enterprise Committee made up of pupils from years 1 to 6.
  • Initiative begun in 2010.

All pupils at Thoresby participate in enterprise education.

  • Pupils ages range from 3 to 11.
  • Pupils of all abilities take part, including those with special educational needs.
  • Members of the Enterprise Committee are elected by their peers.
