Doris Gomezelj Omerzel

 

Doris Gomezelj Omerzel obtained her Hons bachelor degree in the field of Technical science at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mathematics. She has been a teacher of mathematics for several years at Secondary/Grammar School in Koper. In 1991 she established her own entrepreneur company. In the mean time she decided to continue her studies at Economic Faculty. She obtained her master degree at 2004 at the same Faculty.
Currently she is a lecturer and researcher at Faculty of management Koper. She is the member of the team, which is working on the study of the existing conditions of validation and accreditation of non-formal and informal learning at the level of higher education provided for by the existing legislation, as well as establishing concrete criteria and procedures, and proposing the most appropriate system implementers of the system of validation and accreditation on the basis of research relating to the willingness of the university to implement such a system and the willingness of employers to participate in it.
She is involved in the promotion of the development of such a form of acquiring formal education which will enable greater access to education institutions and adapt the acquisition of formal higher education to the concept of lifelong learning and the needs of the labour market.
She was a project manager of the international project “Implementing the system of validation of non formal and informal learning at the High Education area”.
She was a partner in the Leonardo da Vinci project, titled Mislem, which was dealing with the Quality Assurance in the field of Higher education. She was actively included in analysing and interpreting statistical data across all countries, involved in the research.
She is at the final stage of her PhD thesis at the University of Primorska, Faculty of Management Koper, titled The development and empirical analysis of knowledge model in SME.  The last project, she is working on, is about the internationalization of SME and their performance.
