Alexander C. McCormick directs the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), housed at Indiana University’s Center for Postsecondary Research. He also holds a faculty post at the Indiana University School of Education.
Prior to joining NSSE, McCormick was a Senior Scholar at The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, an educational research and policy center. At the Foundation he led a major overhaul of Carnegie’s widely-used Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
McCormick holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University (education and sociology), and an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College.
