Hosted by the government of Cape Verde on 5-6 December, the debates of the Forum contributed to the development of a regional policy on renewable energy in West Africa.
The theme of the meeting was 'Promoting economic growth' and sessions focused on the regulatory framework for the private sector; responsible and value-added investment; infrastructure; and climate change.
The 2011 Forum featured two panels that focus on the relationship between the continent and the G20 and opportunities and challenges in relation to Africa's new and emerging partners. The panels were followed by a roundatble on policy reforms in Africa.
African countries should develop closer cross-border ties in dealing with traditional and emerging partners so they can boost sustainable and inclusive growth, according to the African Economic Outlook 2011.
