Promoting business contribution to addressing global environmental problems 

Helsinki, 16-17 June 2005

The OECD, in co-operation with the Finnish Ministry for the Environment, organised a workshop on Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) and Private Investment. The workshop provided an opportunity to discuss current experience with private investment that contributes to the solution of global environmental problems addressed by MEAs.

The main purpose of the workshop was to improve understanding on how to promote private investment that contributes to the implementation of MEAs and thus to the broader objective of sustainable development. It also explored business opportunities under MEAs and new ways to engage business in MEA implementation.
