The Royal Society organised a workshop that brought together international academic experts and members of the OECD Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (WPNM). This report summarises the main issues discussed during the workshop.

The objective of the workshop was to identify and review the kinds of baseline information of (non-transgenic) traditional fish farming or breeding, and to determine what information might be relevant to risk/ safety assessment.
The Blue Sky II Forum in Ottawa on 25-27 September 2006 will examine new areas for indicator development and set a broad agenda for future work on science, technology and innovation (STI) indicators.

The initiative for this workshop grew from an idea launched by France’s Mission for Gender Equality in Research and Higher Education, following a conference bringing together OECD Ministers of Research in January 2004.
