STI and the G20 picture

G20 Science, Technology and Innovation Ministerial

On 4 November, the OECD attended the G20 STI Ministers Meeting at Yanqi Lake, Beijing and presented the G20 Innovation Report 2016. This report was prepared in response to a request from G20 Leaders in Hangzhou and forms part of the suite of OECD deliverables for the Chinese G20 Presidency’s new growth agenda. The report draws highlights for the G20 from the OECD's flagship STI publications, the Science, Technology and Industry Scoreboard and the Science, Technology and Innovation Outlook.

The IPP is a web-based interactive space, developed jointly by the OECD and the World Bank, that provides an online repository of resources to support better innovation policy making and analysis. Beyond being a simple repository, its content is interconnected throughout the site making it easier for users to find what they are looking for.

Sound measurement is crucial for better policies in science, technology and innovation. Experimentation with metrics based on new tools and data, or new ways of using existing data, are needed to provide insights into emerging areas of policy interest, provoke debate and move the measurement agenda forward.
