Russia’s Shuvalov visits OECD

26/04/2013 - The Russian Federation’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Igor Shuvalov, visited the OECD today. He addressed the OECD Council and had a two-hour dialogue on the ongoing accession of Russia to the OECD with Member countries’ Ambassadors. Russia was invited to start the accession process in 2007. Active discussions started in 2009, and the accession process has been moving forward since then with technical reviews within OECD Committees.

On 25 April, OECD experts and a high-level Russian delegation met to discuss issues related to the accession negotiations, such as the Russian business climate, the environment and public governance.

“First Deputy Prime Minister Shuvalov’s visit and the presence of an important delegation comprising five Deputy Ministers is a concrete expression of the importance attached by Russia to accession to the OECD at a critical time for the G20 and the global economy” said OECD Secretary General Angel Gurría.
