A regulatory framework constructed with high quality standards boosts competitiveness, innovation, economic growth and improves the quality of life for citizens. To achieve this, a professional scrutiny process for all new regulation is necessary. In this process, Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) is one of the most important tools to develop high quality regulation.
At this workshop, OECD officials and international experts from OECD countries shared their experience in applying and conducting Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) as an important element to improve their regulatory framework. Case studies were prepared in the context of RIA at sub-national level.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WORKSHOP
This workshop was part of the programme of co-operation between the Federal Ministry of Economy of Mexico, the Federal Regulatory Improvement Commission (COFEMER) and the OECD to strengthen competitiveness through regulatory improvement. Over 130 public officials from central, regional and local governments attended.
