Minister for local self-government and regional development.
Zlata Ploštajner was born on 23 July 1959. She graduated in political science at the Faculty of Sociology, Political Science and Journalism in Ljubljana. In 1990 she gained her Master of Science in Urban Studies in the USA at the Cleveland State University and continued her studies in the field of economic development and public administration.
From 1988 to 2004 she worked as a researcher and project manager at the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia and gave lectures on modern administrative systems and human resources management in public administration at the Faculty of Social Sciences. In 2004 she became the Director of the Kozjansko Regional Development Agency working in the field of local and regional development, counselling and providing expert support to the municipalities in various areas of their work and in project preparation for national and European tenders. She provided counselling for the preparation and management of regional and cross-border development projects, rural development and businesses and businessmen. Zlata Ploštajner, MSc is a member of the Slovenian Rural Development Network and was a representative of Slovenia in the Steering Committee Leader & EU.
In July 2008 she started working at the Government Office for Local Self-Government and Regional Policy and in November she became the minister without portfolio, responsible for local self-government and regional development.
