Hanna Jahns was appointed Secretary of State in the Ministry of Regional Development on 16 December 2007. In 1997 she graduated from the International Economics and Politics Faculty of the Academy of Economics in Poznan, specialization – European Studies. In 2002 she defended her doctoral thesis on economy at the College of World Economy of the Warsaw School of Economics.
From 2000 to 2003 she worked in the Ministry of Regional Development as a chief of a division in the Department of Structural Policy Coordination. She was responsible for i.a. members’ negotiations in the field of “Regional policy and the structural instruments coordination”. She participated in preparation of the National Strategy of Regional Development, the National Development Plan 2004-2006 and the Integrated Regional Operational Programme (ZPORR), especially in the field of structural funds implementing system in Poland.
From 2003 to 2007 Hanna Jahns held the position of chief of the Regional and Cohesion Policy Department at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the European Union. In march 2007 she started working at the Directorate General for Regional Policy (DG REGIO) of the European Commission. She was leading the budget team. She is an author and co-author of several dozen publications and scientific articles.
