Population

 

In 2006, West Africa has around 300 million inhabitants representing 4.6% of the world population, 43 % of the population in Sub-Saharan Africa, close to 60% of the European Union and roughly equivalent to that of the United States. With a large number of ethnic groups, West Africa is a socially and culturally very diverse region.
