Istanbul World Forum - Measuring and Fostering the Progress of Societies

Second OECD World Forum on "Statistics, Knowledge and Policy"

(The online agenda includes links to papers and presentations)

In June 2007, an exceptional group of 1200 people from about 130 countries gathered in Istanbul to attend the second OECD World Forum on "Statistics, Knowledge and Policy". The Istanbul World Forum has given a unique opportunity for in-depth discussions about the measurement of progress, as well as some of the most important concerns facing the world, such as climate change, health and economic globalisation.

The Istanbul Declaration

The OECD, the European Commission, the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, the United Nations, the UN Development Programme and the World Bank affirmed in a declaration their commitment to measuring and fostering the progress of societies in all dimensions, with the ultimate goal of improving policy making, democracy and citizens’ wellbeing. Read the Istanbul Declaration:
