    International trade statistics: trends in first quarter 2013

    Merchandise trade growth increased in the major economies during the first quarter of 2013. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2012, the value of merchandise imports and exports for the total of G7 and BRICS countries increased by 1.3% and 2.8%, respectively.

    Austria, Luxembourg and Singapore among countries signing-on to end tax secrecy

    As a further sign of international efforts to crack down on tax offenders, 12 more countries have signed, or committed to sign, the OECD’s Multilateral Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters. In addition, another 6 countries have ratified the Convention.

    OECD launches Better Life Index 3.0: Life satisfaction, health, education top list

    The OECD today launched a 3.0 version of its pioneering Better Life Index, an interactive tool that allows people to create their own index according to their priorities in 11 areas that the OECD has identified as essential for well-being. The updated version contains the latest underlying statistics, country data, user findings and a translation into Spanish.
