15/10/2012 - The OECD will host a news conference to launch its new global portal on product recalls during the International Product Safety Week 2012 at 11.00 AM on Friday 19 October at the Charlemagne Building, rue de la Loi 170, 1040 Brussels.

The online portal will give consumers, business and governments quick and easy access to the latest information on products recalled from markets in Australia, Canada, Europe and the United States. It is designed to promote and improve product safety. Deaths and injuries worldwide from unsafe products are estimated to cost more than USD 1 trillion each year.

Speakers will include: Ruth Mackay, Chair of the OECD Working Party on Consumer Product Safety; Rintaro Tamaki, OECD Deputy Secretary-General; Mrs Paola Testori Coggi, Director General of the EC Directorate General for Health & Consumers; and Inez Tenebaum, Chairman of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
