The conference will bring together environmental policy and enforcement officials, as well as industry representatives and non-government experts to exchange experiences on the good practices and trends in environmental compliance assurance in OECD countries and major emerging economies. Conference participants will discuss the results of a two-year OECD comparative study of compliance promotion, monitoring, and enforcement instruments in six OECD member countries and two major emerging economies.

Many governments in OECD countries have taken it for granted that there will always be sufficient water. According to M. Gurría, this is no longer true and the need to ensure access to water will test our ability to work together (available in Spanish).

In his remarks at the 13th World Water Congress, Mr. Gurría underlined that managing and securing access to water and sanitation for all is one of the world’s biggest challenges and needs a global response.

Tout déchet, produit dans un pays ou exporté et importé, doit être géré de façon écologique pour protéger la santé humaine et l'environnement. Dans ce but et pour garantir une concurrence loyale entre les entreprises gestionnaires de déchets de la zone OCDE, les pays membres ont adopté une Recommandation sur la GED. Ce Manuel donne des explications détaillées sur des recommandations politiques aux gouvernements et sur des critères de performance destinés aux installations de traitement des déchets, contribuant ainsi à l'application généralisée de normes environnementales élevées. The eighth annual meeting of the Regulatory Environmental Programme Implementation Network (REPIN) in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) was held in Tbilisi on 12-13th June 2006. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia, and organised by the OECD/EAP Task Force Secretariat. The meeting gathered about 60 participants.
