Frequently Asked Questions about the OECD QSAR Application Toolbox

A first set of Frequently Asked Questions about the OECD QSAR Application Toolbox is now available. The (Q)SAR Application Toolbox is a software application intended to be used by governments, industry and other stakeholders to fill gaps in (eco)toxicity data needed for assessing the hazards of chemicals. The questions address a number of topics such as regulatory acceptance, content and quality of databases, contribution from stakeholders as well as installation and troubleshooting.

Les pays de l’OCDE ont décidé de renforcer le soutien public aux exportations des énergies renouvelables et d’équipements d'énergie nucléaire en proposant des conditions plus avantageuses pour les crédits bénéficiant d’un soutien public destinés à  appuyer les contrats à l’exportation.

Next Training Course on GLP, October 2009, Switzerland

The 9th OECD Training Course for GLP Inspectors will be held in Basel, Switzerland, on 4-9 October 2009. This basic course will cover all aspects of principles, development and implementation of Good Laboratory Practice, with emphasis on on-site inspections for evaluating GLP compliance. Registration to the Course, made through the National GLP Monitoring Authorities, are now CLOSED.
The 10th Training Course will be hosted by Israel in the course of 2011.

La plupart des pays de l’OCDE considèrent que l’éco-innovation est une partie importante de la réponse aux défis actuels que sont notamment le changement climatique et la sécurité énergétique. De plus, de nombreux pays estiment que l’éco-innovation peut être une source d’avantages compétitifs dans le secteur des biens et des services environnementaux, qui est en forte croissance. L’OCDE a inventorié les politiques en œuvre dans les pays membres pour soutenir l’éco-innovation ; de cet inventaire ressort un petit nombre de questions.

Conférence de l'OCDE sur le comportement des ménages et les politiques de l'environnement

L’objectif de la Conférence organisée par la Direction de l'environnement était de présenter les conclusions de l’enquête de l'OCDE sur le comportement des ménages et de discuter des implications politiques. Dix équipes d’experts coordonnées par l'OCDE ont présenté leurs principaux résultats dans cinq domaines clés : énergie, transport, déchets, produits biologiques et eau. La Conférence permettra également de partager des expériences et d'explorer de nouvelles avenues pour la future enquête de l'OCDE, à mettre en œuvre en 2010.

First Steering Group Meeting of the National Policy Dialogue on Water-Related Issues in Ukraine

The dissemination workshop on “Strengthening financial planning and management for WSS in central government, municipalities and utilities of EECCA countries” was held  in Kiev, Ukraine on 24 April 2009. The meeting was a capacity development and dissemination workshop where good practices and approaches to improve the financial management of the water sector have been presented. These outputs have been developed in the framework of the EAP Task Force and supported by a TACIS grant.

EECCA workshop on integrating the environment sector into medium-term expenditure frameworks

The OECD Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (WPMN) and the OECD Working Party on Nanotechnology (WPN) are organizing the Conference on Potential Environmental Benefits of Nanotechnolgy: Fostering Safe Innovation-Led Growth on 15-17 July in 2009 at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris, France. The conference will cover both the opportunities and the challenges of the use of nanotechnologies for the potential benefits for the environment.

Managing Water for All publication launch

The OECD has released a new report – Managing Water for All: Pricing and Financing – at an event during the World Water Forum in Istanbul. Emphasising the economic, social and environmental benefits of investing in water and sanitation, the report includes information about the agricultural uses of water, financing water supply and sanitation, water pricing, private sector participation in the water sector and aid flows to water.
