The 6th Annual Meeting will bring together some 200 representatives of local partnerships, government officials, social entrepreneurs, business leaders, trade unions and academics to review how local development actors are adapting to this new reality and what are the innovations emerging on the ground to respond to these new challenges.

L’efficacité des régimes d’indemnisation du chômage dans leur rôle de principal filet de sécurité pour les chômeurs et leur famille est mise à rude épreuve par la récession actuelle. Cette section 4 du chapitre 1 des Perspectives de l'emploi de l'OCDE 2009 examine le champ et la générosité des politiques de soutien du revenu existantes et pose la question de savoir s’il faut adapter ces mesures aux défis posés par une forte récession, et dans l’affirmative, comment le faire.

Ensuring a smooth and quick transition from education to employment and fighting education drop-out trends are key objectives of youth policies across OECD countries. The seminar was addressed to those already working in partnerships on youth policies, or in the process of establishing a partnership in one of the following areas: (i) promoting entrepreneurship; (ii) youth skills initiatives; and (iii) integrating youth with accumulated disadvantages.

The ILO and the OECD jointly organised an experts meeting on fostering employment and skills development strategies in Indonesia and the Philippines, as part of OECD LEED’s initiative on Employment and Skills Development in South East Asia (ESSSA), in Jakarta on 3 December 2008. The meeting addressed issues of decentralisation, partnerships, skills upgrading and integration of the disadvantaged in the labour market and learn the lessons from the OECD experience in these areas.
