The second round of the OECD reviews of Higher education in regional and city development has a strong focus in Latin America and Spain, where altogether seven regions will undergo a review process under the OECD lead in 2009-2010. To better serve the regions and their higher education institutions in the Spanish language area, a Spanish version of the Higher education in regional and city development brochure has now been published.

Across OECD countries, close to 40% of high-school students who come top in science subjects have no interest in pursuing a science-related career, while almost 45% do not want to continue studying science, according to a new OECD report.

The dedicated website for the OECD Reviews of Higher Education in Regional and City Development has been revamped. The website now features easier navigation between the different rounds of the reviews, a map of all the participating regions using the Google Maps service and the brochure: Higher Education in Cities and Regions.
