Lors d'un séminaire sur « Comment mieux accompagner les mutations économiques » le Secrétaire général de l'OCDE, A. Gurría, a déclaré que des régions prospères et innovatrices, des métropoles dynamiques et solidaires, des territoires ruraux actifs, sont les pièces maîtresses d’une économie mondiale plus forte, plus saine et plus juste. En France comme dans d'autres pays de l'OCDE, améliorer la coordination entre les niveaux de gouvernement reste une condition cruciale de l’efficacité des politiques nationales.

The OECD Territorial Review of Sweden was launched officially on 3 February 2010 in Stockholm. The review explores the potential for enhanced innovation and entrepreneurship and provides recommendations to strengthen Sweden’s regional development strategies through improved governance mechanisms, both regionally and across levels of government.

To date Chilean regions have not fully utilised their assets and reached their growth potential thus limiting Chile’s capacity for growth. The OECD Territorial Review of Chile recommends for Chile a stronger regional approach to economic development in order to better exploit the different opportunities of regions and to improve the country’s overall performance.

L’examen territorial de Chili recommande une approche régionale plus soutenue pour mieux exploiter les différentes opportunités des régions et pour améliorer la performance globale du pays.

Ce rapport examine ce qui génère la croissance au niveau régional. En s’appuyant sur des modèles économétriques et des analyses approfondies, l'ouvrage reformule le débat sur les politiques et le développement régional et souligne le potentiel de croissance qui existe dans toutes les régions. Ce livre sera disponible en hiver 2009.

Après avoir mené à terme son projet sur les besoins d’infrastructures à l’horizon 2030 (2005-2007) portant sur les télécommunications, l’eau, l'électricité et les transports de surface, le Programme de l’OCDE sur l’avenir lance à présent une étude sur les ports, aéroports et autres grandes infrastructures intracontinentales et intercontinentales. La première réunion du Groupe de Pilotage aura lieu le 19 Novembre à Paris et sera suivie le 20 Novembre par un atelier centré sur le financement des infrastructures dans l'avenir. The earthquake in L’Aquila, Italy, killed almost 300 people and destroyed a large part of the built environment, as well as essential infrastructure networks. International experts and policy practitioners from around the world discussed and assessed policy options to restore and re-launch the regional economy which was severely hit by the earthquake.

OECD is at the forefront of climate change analysis, promoting environmentally and economically rational policies related to adaptation, mitigation, technology, financing and development. The OECD was present in several ways at the UN Climate Change Conference.
