The paper draws out policy-implications of a major meta-analysis that was made from estimates of the value of a statistical life in stated preferences surveys as a guide for policy makers on how to include VSL estimates in policy assessments.

The document is developed based on an analysis of recent peer-reviewed literature, and focuses on studies which value the impacts of human exposure to outdoor air pollution, unsafe water supply and sanitation and hazardous chemicals, and the costs of policy interventions to address such impacts.

Il est important que ces aspects du système ne soient pas affaiblis par de potentielles mesures politiques visant à répondre au sentiment d’injustice suscité par l’attribution initiale des quotas ou par les négociations d’adhésion à l’UE.

This one-day workshop aims to provide an interactive platform for discussion among representatives from developing countries, environmental specialist from development agencies, and invited guest speakers on the relevance of green growth to developing countries.

La direction de l'environnement de l'OCDE et CDC Climat ont tenu une conférence de presse pour présenter l'étude internationale "Les collectivités locales et les marchés du carbone" le mardi 19 avril à CDC Climat, Paris, suivie d'une table ronde sur le thème des financements innovants pour la mise en oeuvre des plans énergie-climat territoriaux. Plusieurs collectivités étudient les mécanismes de projets de réduction d'émission de carbone pour valoriser ces réductions et trouver des compléments de financements.

The conference explored how improved resource efficiency can reduce negative environmental impacts of resource exploitation, transportation, use and disposal, while at the same time securing adequate supplies of materials to sustain economic growth. It focussed on economic efficiency and environmental effectiveness of resource use, as well as the related development and governance aspects.

La croissance et le développement économiques sont indissociables d’une saine gestion des ressources de l’environnement. Ce sont les pays et les populations les plus pauvres qui sont le plus tributaires de ces ressources et qui pâtissent donc le plus de leur dégradation. La réunion ministérielle est venu à point nommé car elle a permis de débattre des interactions entre pauvreté et dégradation de l’environnement, de même que des possibilités d’établir des stratégies gagnantes pour tous afin de faire face à ces deux problématiques.
