Environment : L’aide liée au changement climatique a atteint 22.9 milliards USD en 2010, indique le Secrétaire général de l'OCDE

De nouvelles données montrent qu’en 2010, les pays membres du Comité d’Aide au Développement (CAD) de l'OCDE ont alloué 22.9 milliards USD à des activités d’atténuation et d’adaptation au changement climatique dans les pays en développement, soit 15 % du total de l’Aide Publique au Développement (APD).

Une hausse moyenne de 3 à 6 degrés de la température du globe pourrait s’ensuivre d’ici la fin du siècle en l’absence d’initiative décisive des gouvernements.

Cela crée des risques de santé publique et de sécurité énergétique, rend plus difficile le respect des objectifs en matière d’émissions et peut empêcher de lever des obstacles à la croissance. Il faut renforcer les instruments pour promouvoir l’efficacité énergétique, les évaluer de façon plus rigoureuse et mieux les coordonner.

Expert Workshop on Tracking Climate Finance Flows from the Private Sector and Multilateral Development Banks

On November 10, OECD/IEA held a workshop to share experiences of existing methodologies to track private sector flows for climate change and how they could be reinforced. The workshop also explored the integration of climate change flows from multilateral development banks into the OECD DAC Creditor Reporting System. The discussions highlighted the complexity of climate finance flows and the difficulty of separating the political and technical aspects of measuring them. Ongoing OECD/IEA work will examine the progress that can be made in the absence of political decisions.

OECD and IEA recommend reforming fossil-fuel subsidies to improve the economy and the environment

Governments and taxpayers spent about half a trillion US dollars last year supporting the production and consumption of fossil fuels. Removing inefficient subsidies would raise national revenues and reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, according to OECD and IEA analyses.

Regional Meeting on Private Sector Participation in water and sanitation in EECCA – Recent Experience and the Way Forward
