Addendum to the OECD Guiding Principles for Chemical Accident Prevention, Preparedness and Response

This Addendum has been developed as a supplement to the second edition of the OECD Guiding Principles for Chemical Accident Prevention, Preparedness and Response, published in 2003. 

The Addendum takes into account the results of five workshops that were held under the auspices of the OECD Working Group on Chemical Accidents during the period from 2003 – 2007.

Le Projet de recommandation du Conseil de l’OCDE définit des principes qui guideront l’élaboration des méthodes d’évaluation de durabilité des bioproduits et de leurs intermédiaires. Cette recommandation s’adresse à tous ceux qui jouent un rôle dans l’innovation dans les bioindustries, en particulier à ceux qui évaluent l’impact des bioproduits en termes environnementaux, économiques et sociaux. Le public est invité à formuler des commentaires avant le 29 juillet 2011

This document provides a snapshot of information on current/planned activities related to the safety of manufactured nanomaterials in OECD member countries and other delegations that attended the 8th meeting of OECD’s Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (Paris France, 16-18 March 2011). There are also written reports on current activities from other International Organisations such as the ISO, the FAO and the WHO.

PESTICIDES: Guidance Document on the Planning and Implementation of Joint Reviews of Pesticides

A joint review is an evaluation of a pesticide dossier through work-sharing among countries. The participating regulatory authorities review the work of the primary reviewers for each particular science discipline, and the end product is used by all participating countries as the basis for regulatory decisions. This guidance document was prepared to support joint reviews to maximize opportunities of work-sharing. This guidance document includes two main phases of a joint review, planning and implementation phases, to help industries and regulatory authorities conduct the joint review process.

QSAR Toolbox: New training material available

A first batch of training material for version 2 of the Toolbox is now available. The QSAR Toolbox is a software application intended to be used by governments, industry and other stakeholders to fill gaps in (eco)toxicity data needed for assessing the hazards of chemicals. This first batch of training material is focused on familiarizing beginners with the workflow of the Toolbox, by guiding them in a step-by-step manner through a number of examples.

Brazil: joins OECD agreement on mutual acceptance of chemical safety data

Brazil has become the fourth key emerging economy to join the OECD system for the Mutual Acceptance of Data (MAD) in the Assessment of Chemicals, ensuring that the results of non-clinical chemical safety testing done there will be accepted in all other participating countries.

QSAR Toolbox: Guidance on importing databases

A guidance document for importing databases into the OECD QSAR Toolbox is now available. The QSAR Toolbox is a software application intended to be used by governments, industry and other stakeholders to fill gaps in (eco)toxicity data needed for assessing the hazards of chemicals. This new document specifically provides guidance on how users can import their own proprietary experimental data into the Toolbox and use them to fill data gaps by read-across or trend analysis.
