The approach described in this guidance document is to consider closely related chemicals as a group, or category, rather than as individual chemicals. In the category approach, not every chemical needs to be tested for every endpoint. Rather, the overall data for that category must prove adequate to support a hazard assessment. The overall data set must allow the estimation of the hazard for the untested endpoints.

This publication provides the outcome of an OECD Workshop on Perfluorocarboxylic acids and Precursors, hosted by Sweden in November 2006. It highlights ongoing PFC-related activities in OECD countries, indentifies gaps in knowledge, reveals existing concerns and how these could be mitigated. Recommendations for future activities within the OECD, governments, industry, academia and NGOs are also identified.

An investigation was conducted to analyse and assess current protocols to develop harmonised test methods and performance standards for the efficacy testing of biocides used in treated articles. The present report is the result of this investigation.

La médecine est un secteur en expansion : d’après Eco-Santé OCDE 2007, le nombre de médecins a augmenté de 35 % dans les pays de l’OCDE au cours des quinze dernières années, passant à 2.8 millions. Dans la majorité de ces pays, cette progression est imputable dans une large mesure à l’augmentation de l’effectif des spécialistes, qui a été proche de 50 % entre 1990 et 2005, contre 20 % pour celle du nombre de généralistes.

This report presents a summary of the discussions at, and the outcomes from, the OECD workshop on Pesticide User Compliance Issues. The workshop was held in Ottawa, from 6-8 June 2006 and was hosted by Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA). The focus of the workshop was on issues and impediments to compliance associated with pesticide use. Such issues were addressed in the context of reducing risks to human health and the environment as well as risks to the integrity of the regulatory process. In response to a questionnaire on minor uses fifteen countries and the European Commission responded. They include Australia, Canada, Estonia , European Commission, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Republic of Korea, Slovakia, Switzerland, UK, and the US. The report is a collation of various aspects such as responsible regulatory authorities/agencies, data requirements, activities being pursued and regulatory mechanisms for approving minor uses in member countries.
