This document contains the report of a survey carried out in 2009 by the OECD Expert Group on Minor Uses (EGMU), a sub-group of the Working Group on Pesticides, on “Regulatory Incentives for the Registration of Pesticide Minor Uses”. The aim of the survey was to provide an overview of regulatory incentives available to enhance the registration of pesticide minor uses.

This document provides guidance to national regulatory authorities in providing greater incentives to encourage applicants (manufacturers/registrants) to register agricultural pesticides (including both synthetically and naturally derived products) for minor uses. This document is based upon the results of a survey conducted in 2009 by the OECD Expert Group on Minor Uses (EGMU), which detailed available incentives in OECD countries [see survey results in publication ENV/JM/MONO(2011)14].

À la veille de la Réunion des Ministres de l'agriculture du G20, le Club du Sahel et de l’Afrique de l’Ouest / OCDE a organisé une conférence sur l’impact de la volatilité des prix sur les économies africaines. Cette conférence, qui s’est inscrite dans une démarche plus large d’ouverture de la réflexion du G20 à l’Afrique, était l’occasion pour des représentants gouvernementaux et autres experts de s’exprimer sur les solutions pratiques et les options politiques adaptées au contexte africain face à la volatilité des prix alimentaires.

Le système de gestion réussie du secteur de la pêche repose, en Islande, sur les totaux admissibles de capture (TAC) basés sur des recommandations scientifiques et sur un système de quotas individuels transférables (QIT). Il est important que ces aspects du système ne soient pas affaiblis par de potentielles mesures politiques visant à répondre au sentiment d’injustice suscité par l’attribution initiale des quotas ou par les négociations d’adhésion à l’UE.

Trade in processed agricultural products, such as chocolates, steaks or wines, between emerging economies grew by 11.6% per year between 1995 and 2008, a new OECD study shows. Exports of these products from emerging to high-income countries also increased. However, trade in these products is still dominated by high-income countries.

A joint review is an evaluation of a pesticide dossier through work-sharing among countries. The participating regulatory authorities review the work of the primary reviewers for each particular science discipline, and the end product is used by all participating countries as the basis for regulatory decisions. This guidance document was prepared to support joint reviews to maximize opportunities of work-sharing. This guidance document includes two main phases of a joint review, planning and implementation phases, to help industries and regulatory authorities conduct the joint review process.

However, traditionally sensitive sectors such as dairy, meat, sugar and cereals are still often protected by exemptions such as tariff rate quotas (TRQs).
