Compendium of OECD recommendations for policy action and local initiatives to strengthen entrepreneurship

The compendium is part of the project on "Strengthening Entrepreneurship and Economic Development in East Germany"carried out by the OECD and the Federal Ministry of Housing, Land, Construction, Transport and Urban Affairs. The compendium is built of several themes of relevance to local entrepreneurship development in East Germany. It brings together recommendations, International learning models and good practice in East Germany.

The OECD LEED Programme has just released a report on "Enhancing the Capacity of Partnerships to Influence Policy” which gathers the experience of the two capacity building seminars organised by the Trento Centre for Local Development in close co-operation with the Forum office unit at the Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) in Vienna Austria.

LEED Reviews: Innovation and the Internationalisation of Local Economies

This review series aims to assist policy makers to develop local strategies and programmes to promote competitiveness in the globalising knowledge economy through strengthening innovation and internationalisation. Andalusia in Spain is the first region to take part in these reviews. Cities and regions interested in participating in this series, are invited to contact the OECD Secretariat.

Strengthening entrepreneurship and local economic development in East Germany

This co-operative project between the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs and the OECD provides an opportunity for participants in East Germany to stand back and reflect on their overall options, needs and priorities and by facilitating an international exchange of information on innovations and best practices from a range of OECD Member countries.

Intégrer les travailleurs immigrés et leurs dépendants dans les pays où ils s’installent exige des actions et une mobilisation efficaces aussi bien au niveau national qu’au niveau local. Bien gérés, les flux d’immigration présentent des avantages tant pour les pays hôtes que pour les migrants. Mais il est capital d’intégrer effectivement cette population dans la société des pays hôtes.

LEED has launched this comprehensive site with over 300 documents focusing on partnerships and related policy fields. The database includes information published by public organisations, research institutions, and international organisations.  This activity is carried out within the framework of the LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Governance.

Conference on "Partnerships for Social Inclusion", Melbourne, Australia

Increasing social inclusion requires a joined-up approach that cuts across policy departments. The public sector should re-think the way it operates, moving from a traditional hierarchical model to one characterised by multi-sectoral partnerships and flexibility in policy delivery. These topics will be discussed at this conference co-organised by the Centre for Public Policy at the University of Melbourne, the Victorian Department of Planning and Community Development and the OECD LEED Programme.

Final Seminar on "Strategic Planning and Evaluation for Regional and Local Development in Latvia", Riga, Latvia

Capacity Building Seminar for Partnerships on "Designing and Delivering Skills Strategies for Cities", Trento, Italy

The objective of this seminar was to improve the capacity of partnerships to design and deliver integrated skills strategies. It focused on three main themes: (i) understanding local skills needs; (ii) building an integrated skills strategy and (iii) assessing the impact: moving from quantitative to qualitative assessment.

Conference on "Decentralisation and Co-ordination: The Twin Challenges of Labour Market Policy", Venice, Italy

This high-level conference was organised by the Senate and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Italy and the OECD LEED Programme, in collaboration with Italia Lavoro and Isfol.  It took stock of 10 years of decentralisation since the initial Venice conference which the LEED Programme organised in 1998 at the request of the Italian government.

Capacity Building for Effective Partnerships – An Active Review in Croatia

The Fourth Forum Meeting ‘Partnerships for Skills and Competitiveness’, Vienna, Austria

This meeting sought to identify the best ways for partnerships to contribute to the design and implementation of skills development strategies which can boost competitiveness and make the economy more inclusive. More than 130 partnership practitioners, managers, national co-ordinators of partnership networks, and policy makers from OECD Member and non-member countries joined fruitful debates.
