Launch of Territorial Review of Sweden

The OECD Territorial Review of Sweden was launched officially on 3 February 2010 in Stockholm. The review explores the potential for enhanced innovation and entrepreneurship and provides recommendations to strengthen Sweden’s regional development strategies through improved governance mechanisms, both regionally and across levels of government.

En s’appuyant sur des modèles économétriques et des analyses approfondies, l'ouvrage reformule le débat sur les politiques et le développement régional et souligne le potentiel de croissance qui existe dans toutes les régions. Ce livre sera disponible en hiver 2009.

A new role for regional policy: local responses for a global crisis

Speaking at the ministerial meeting of the territorial development policy committee, Mr. Gurría affirmed that urban and rural regions have a core role to play in promoting sustainable growth. Mayors and regional officials are leading efforts to encourage public transportation, implement climate change action plans, and curb air pollution.

Re-launching the Economy after the L'Aquila Earthquake

The earthquake in L’Aquila, Italy, killed almost 300 people and destroyed a large part of the built environment, as well as essential infrastructure networks.   International experts and policy practitioners from around the world discussed and assessed policy options to restore and re-launch the regional economy which was severely hit by the earthquake.

Green Cities: New Approaches to Confronting Climate Change

International Conference on Regional Policy around the World

Government leaders, policy makers and practitioners discussed the impact of regional policy, present and future perspectives, at an international conference on “Regional Policy around the World”, held in Porto, Portugal, 29 September 2008. This conference was organised by the Portuguese Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Regional Development, in co-operation with the OECD. On this occasion the report “OECD Territorial Review of Portugal” was officially launched.
