Proposal for Precautionary Statement, Codes for Ozone Depleting Chemicals and Consequential Amendments

This document presents a proposal for a precautionary statement for ozone depleting chemicals, and for codes for the hazard and precautionary statements, as well as for consequential amendments. The proposal for classification and labeling of ozone depleting chemicals was sent to the UN Sub-Committee secretariat for submission to the July 2008 Sub-Committee meeting.

This document intends to provide a “snapshot” of how OECD countries have developed and run their PRTR programmes. It shows the similarities and differences across countries in their requirements to collect and display high quality data, which is required for an effective PRTR system.  It also presents compliance and regulatory requirements, the development of guidance material, and emerging issues and challenges for the future.

The International Workshop on Documentary Standards for Measurement and Characterisation in Nanotechnologies was held 26-28 February 2008 at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg (USA), in co-ordination with ISO, IEC, NIST and the OECD. The participants discussed the development, efficacy, harmonisation and uptake of documentary standards broadly relevant to the field of measurement and characterisation for nanotechnologies. Publication of the Report of the OECD Pesticide Risk Reduction Steering Group Seminar on Risk Reduction through Better Worker Safety and Training

This report presents the results of an OECD seminar on ways to achieve pesticide risk reduction through worker safety and training.  The seminar was hosted by Czech State Phytosanitary Administration, in Brno, Czech Republic, on 21 March 2007. It was chaired by Dr. Wolfgang Zornbach of the German Federal Ministry of Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture.

New Publication from the Series on Emission Scenario No. 18

OECD published a new Emission Scenario Document (ESD) which is intended to provide information to be used for risk assessment for active substances and products used as biocidal (i.e. non agricultural) insecticides, acaricides and products to control other arthropods. It describes methods for estimating emissions of these products, excluding the insecticide treatments for vector control. Users are encouraged to provide updated information for its continuous development.
