The compendium is part of the project on "Strengthening Entrepreneurship and Economic Development in East Germany"carried out by the OECD and the Federal Ministry of Housing, Land, Construction, Transport and Urban Affairs. The compendium is built of several themes of relevance to local entrepreneurship development in East Germany. It brings together recommendations, International learning models and good practice in East Germany.

The OECD LEED Programme has just released a report on "Enhancing the Capacity of Partnerships to Influence Policy” which gathers the experience of the two capacity building seminars organised by the Trento Centre for Local Development in close co-operation with the Forum office unit at the Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) in Vienna Austria.

This review series aims to assist policy makers to develop local strategies and programmes to promote competitiveness in the globalising knowledge economy through strengthening innovation and internationalisation. Andalusia in Spain is the first region to take part in these reviews. Cities and regions interested in participating in this series, are invited to contact the OECD Secretariat.

Le Programme LEED a soumis en juin dernier le rapport "Pôles de compétitivité et entrepreneuriat: Comparaisons internationales" au Ministre des PME. Cette étude a été menée en collaboration avec la DCASPL du gouvernement français. Le rapport tire de conclusions et recommandations sur les adaptations pour améliorer l'impact des politiques publiques en matière de soutien aux pôles et à l'entrepreneuriat. Le rapport a été rédigé sur la base d'une étude approfondie du pôle grenoblois et six autres pôles internationaux.

Le Programme LEED a publié les résultats de l'étude sur l’intégration des immigrés au niveau local ménée en collaboration avec la division de l'OCDE pour l'emploi et les affaires sociales. Cet ouvrage met en évidence les principes et facteurs importants pour le soutien de l’intégration au niveau local.

The report includes a discussion of the conceptual issues regarding innovation in tourism, it illustrates national and industry practices enhancing innovation in tourism, and provides insights into the potential role of tourism policy in innovation.

This co-operative project between the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs and the OECD provides an opportunity for participants in East Germany to stand back and reflect on their overall options, needs and priorities and by facilitating an international exchange of information on innovations and best practices from a range of OECD Member countries.

Intégrer les travailleurs immigrés et leurs dépendants dans les pays où ils s’installent exige des actions et une mobilisation efficaces aussi bien au niveau national qu’au niveau local. Bien gérés, les flux d’immigration présentent des avantages tant pour les pays hôtes que pour les migrants. Mais il est capital d’intégrer effectivement cette population dans la société des pays hôtes.

The objective of this 2.5-day seminar is to improve the functioning of local partnerships. The seminar is aimed at local partnership practitioners and their counterparts in local and national governments. The seminar will focus on three main themes: (i) what makes local partnership building successful?; (ii) what are the key elements of a national support framework for local development partnerships?; and (iii) how to manage and improve performance?

Increasing social inclusion requires a joined-up approach that cuts across policy departments. The public sector should re-think the way it operates, moving from a traditional hierarchical model to one characterised by multi-sectoral partnerships and flexibility in policy delivery. These topics will be discussed at this conference co-organised by the Centre for Public Policy at the University of Melbourne, the Victorian Department of Planning and Community Development and the OECD LEED Programme.

It focused on three main themes: (i) understanding local skills needs; (ii) building an integrated skills strategy and (iii) assessing the impact: moving from quantitative to qualitative assessment.

Le forum, créé en 1993, offre un cadre unique pour l’échange périodique de vues et d’expériences sur l’évolution des statistiques du tourisme. Le forum vise à permettre l’examen des principaux facteurs techniques à prendre en compte pour l’établissement de statistiques du tourisme harmonisées.
Le 9ème forum sera centré sur cinq thèmes : i) Les évolutions des comportements touristiques ; ii) Les entreprises du secteur du tourisme ; iii) Les enquêtes auprès des visiteurs ; iv) Les nouvelles approches de collecte de données; et v) l’utilisations avancées des systèmes d’information touristique.

This high-level conference was organised by the Senate and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Italy and the OECD LEED Programme, in collaboration with Italia Lavoro and Isfol. It took stock of 10 years of decentralisation since the initial Venice conference which the LEED Programme organised in 1998 at the request of the Italian government.

It was implemented by the OECD LEED Trento Centre for Local Development, the USAID Mission to Croatia and USAID’s partner institution World Learning.
