Presentation of the Latin American Economic Outlook 2009 in Chile

The Latin American Economic Outlook 2009 was presented in Santiago de Chile on 28 November 2008. Two presentations of the report took place at the Chilean capital. The first one hosted by the Ministry of Finance and the second by the Universidad Católica de Chile.

The director of the OECD Development Centre, Javier Santiso presented the Latin American Economic Outlook 2009  in Madrid on 18 November 2008, at a seminar hosted by Casa de América. This is the second year that the Spanish presentation of the report takes place in this well-known Madrid venue.

 

AEO 2008 presented in Angola and Cape Verde

The AEO 2008 was presented last week in Luanda, Angola and Praia, Cape Verde. These public presentations were organised with the support of the Portuguese Government and were held at Portugal's embassies in both capitals.

AEO partners present 2008 edition in Cairo

The 2008 edition of the AEO was presented today in Cairo, Egypt, by a panel of Development Centre and African Development Bank experts. Following the presentation, participants from government, business, civil society and international organisations debated Egypt's growth prospects and the importance of technical and vocational skills development - the thematic focus of this year's AEO - for Africa's economic and social development. The event was opened by Egypt's Minister for International Co-operation Mrs. Fayza Aboulnaga.

Improving social cohesion in Latin America: making the most of globalisation

While the global economy has created immense opportunities for Latin America, it has not reduced deep inequalities. In his remarks at a Euro-Latin American Forum in Paris, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría stressed that improvement in three crucial areas of public policy -fiscal policy, education and regional development- can foster social cohesion in the region.
